Columbus police officer injured after being struck by an excavator

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOIO) - The Columbus police officer who was injured Wednesday after being struck by an excavator has been upgraded to stable condition.
According to Columbus police, the officer was directing traffic as part of a special duty assignment in the area of Trabue Road and Quarry Trails Drive when the accident happened.
Officers who responded to the scene immediately applied a tourniquet to the officer’s leg before medics transported him to a local hospital.
The injured officer is a 26 year veteran of the force. His name has not been released at this time.
